18 Month Old
Benny came to us from a pound after being found abandoned, we have no idea what his life was like before but he was terrified of everyone initially. Time and patience have worked wonders for this little lad but he will still need a kind compassionate and patient new owner who is prepared to commit fully to working at his pace.
He has a terrible fear of men again patience and kindness will win out for him as does his love of food! Once you have earnt his trust he is an adorable lad who will make a wonderful, loyal companion. Ideally Benny will be best homed in a quieter home, he can be barky with new visitors but is calm and quiet usually. He must be homed with at least one other dog as he gains so much confidence and follows their lead. He has been good with all other dogs and takes no notice of the cats at all and is happy to share the sofa with them.
Benny cannot be homed with children due to his nervousness. Someone who understands and loves terriers will see what a great little chap he is, in a very short space of time from not being able to be handled he is easily handled, loves a cuddle and is happy on your lap. He so wants to trust and is ecstatic when the interactions he has with humans are positive.
Out on a walk Benny has typical terrier traits, he gets his nose on a scent and would be gone. He does need lots of work on his recall and once bonded this will also assist. He is excited by dogs running at speed and will go in to play. His intro’s need work out but inside he behaves and interacts well with all other dogs.
Poor Benny doesn’t travel well in the car, we are working on this and will continue to do so, he is crated currently and always travels prior to eating. He can still be ill but is not overly stressed by traveling in a car and should improve with time.
Benny will need owners who are around for a good part of the day, he is fine to be left for short periods. He is clean in the house and not destructive. Owners who have experience of nervous dogs would be great. NO children due to his fears and a quieter home please. We would be happy to discuss Benny in more details with suitable applicants as he so deserves his own sofa and special human. He is a great lad who has clearly seen much in his short life. Lets hope his special person gets in touch.
He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date with flea and worming treatment. Benny is currently being fostered in Aldershot Hampshire.
