Patrick & PJ – Dachshunds Long Coated

Patrick and Pj

11 Year Old Male

Dachshunds Long Coated

Fostered in Aldershot Hampshire

People – These boys have lived a sheltered life so are nervous initially with new people, once they have settled they adore their chosen human and love a cuddle.

Can I Live with children – Patrick and Pj are not used to children so either occasional visiting children or an adult home is needed please.

Can I live with cats – They are currently in foster with cats and have accepted them well.

Can I live with other dogs – Both boys are fine with other dogs and are currently being fostered with several.

Health – Both Patrick and Pj have suffered IVDD (Inter vertebral disc disease), although they had surgery it was not completely successful and so they have limited mobility.  They are able to get around the house and garden well, they use a step to get in and out of the garden without issue, this has also impacted on their continence and so they do have accidents mostly faecal but they are easily managed and if diet is followed it does not pose an issue.  We will obviously discuss this with suitable applicants. They are both currently taking low dose pain meds daily to ensure they are comfortable – again we will discuss this fully.  They do not have formal exercise as they haven’t for some years but love being in the garden.  They will need to be on soft flooring carpet or rugs to protect their legs and feet.

In the home –They are content and happy dogs who love a fuss when they trust you, they do bark at strange noises and when the door goes, they are nervous when visitors come but not aggressive.  They are content to know their human is around and will happily choose their favourite bed for a snooze.

Out and about – They travel ok in the car, Patrick drools but is not vocal or worried. We are looking into the possibility that wheels may assist them in getting out and about and will update on this when we have further information.

Type of home  – Patrick and Pj need a quieter home with patient owners who will allow them time to adjust and settle and most of all to trust.  They have both been much loved but sadly their owner passed away.  They are not used to being left for long so will need owners around for most of the day.

The boys have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.  They have recently had bloods run and a full dental, they are up to date with flea and worming treatment.

Potential adopters will be expected to travel to Aldershot Hampshire to meet Patrick and Pj.
