2.5 Year Old Female
Dogue de Bordeaux Cross
Fostered in Haselmere Surrey
People – Sadie is so very scared of most people, terrified of men but bonds easily with women, we do not know what life has held for this girl but we do know she is terrified. The pictures show how she should look and the dog that arrived into our care.
Can I Live with children – Due to her level of fear we would like an adult home for Sadie so that she can adjust and settle at her own level.
Can I live with cats – We were told that Sadie used to live with cats but we have no way to validate this information, we feel it may be best to home her in a feline free environment.
Can I live with other dogs – We know that Sadie lived with another dog and she has been around other dogs without issue, we suspect she may well benefit from being re homed with another dog to help her gain in confidence and adjust to her new surroundings.
Health – As is evident from the pictures she has not been looked after for quite some time, her skin is terrible due to untreated flea infestation, she lacks any muscle tone and is severely underweight. All of this can be rectified but it will take a little time and patience.
In the home –It does not appear that Sadie knows anything about life in the home, everything is new and quite scary for her. The washing machine, doorbell, telephone all are new and a little scary for Sadie. She will need kindness and patience to help her adjust.
Out and about – Outside of the home is even more frightening than inside for Sadie, her foster is working on very gently and carefully introducing her to all that is outside. Seeing people scares her and she will grumble, men particularly frighten Sadie and so she will need gentle, controlled exposure. It will take lots of time to right the wrongs that have been done to this beautiful girl.
Type of home – This girl needs a really experienced owner or owners who understand how real her fears are and who will be able to guide her on her journey to freedom from those fears. She truly wants to be loved and to love, to trust in humans to lookout for her. To see her fear is heart breaking. An adult home with experience of large breeds is a must as is experience of fearful dogs. Owners will need to be around for most of the day and be certain they can commit fully to her rehabilitation.
Sadie has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, she is also up to date with flea and worming treatment.
Potential adopters will be expected to travel to Haselmere Surrey to meet Sadie.
