New Adoption Form

Adopting a Dog or Puppy from Pro Dogs

Pro Dogs Direct is run mainly by volunteers who give their time freely to help dogs find new, loving forever homes.  Most of our volunteers also fit jobs, families and other commitments into their busy days.

Our aim is to place each dog in the best possible home and not on a first come first served basis.  We assess the dogs in our care and reflect this in our rehoming threads. To avoid disappointment, please ensure you read the dog’s rehoming thread thoroughly and only apply if you feel you can offer a home that genuinely meets their individual needs.

Please be aware that our adoption application form is by necessity quite detailed and cannot be saved part way through completion so please ensure you set time aside to complete it thoroughly as this will increase your chances of being shortlisted.

Before you submit your application to adopt, please read through the following important information:

  • Please make sure you have read the information on our ‘Adopt‘ page so you know how our application and selection processes work
  • Please think carefully about whether you are genuinely ready to adopt before applying
  • Please ensure you apply for a specific named dog from the website as we are unable to process ‘general’ applications
  • Shortlisted applicants will be called for a further interview as part of our assessment process to ensure we find the best possible home for each dog – please note that if you are not shortlisted you will not be contacted.  Please keep an eye on your chosen dog’s status on the website, if it changes to ‘Reserved’ and you have not been contacted in the meantime, this will unfortunately mean that your application has not been successful this time.
  • Successful applicants will be subject to a home check prior to receiving a dog or puppy from Pro Dogs. We will discuss our home check and collection procedures with potential adopters at time of interview
  • We will ask for a deposit prior to your home check. If we decline your application post home check, we will refund your deposit unless the home check is not passed due to incorrect information being supplied by the applicant.   If you withdraw your application at any point, the deposit will be retained to cover our costs and no refund can be given
  • As a responsible rescue it is our policy to neuter all dogs where possible prior to re homing, unless there are medical reasons for not doing so. Puppies must be neutered at the correct age as part of the Adoption Contract, and proof of neutering will be required.  We offer reduced cost neutering at our vets at the appropriate time.
  • We ask for a one-off set donation per dog, this varies for each dog but may be more for some dogs, and puppies under one year. This help towards, but rarely covers our care costs and those for neutering, veterinary treatments, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping (where necessary).  We cannot guarantee that these will all have been done before you take your new pet away, but we will advise you if that is not the case.
  • Our dogs are in foster care in private homes and it is only possible to visit once all required adoption steps have been taken and passed.
  • All successful applicants must be able to collect their dog from the foster home. We have a legally binding adoption contract which you will be asked to read and sign before collecting your dog.
  • By adopting a dog from us you agree to us retaining your personal details and contact information. You can access our Privacy Policy here.
